Position Overview
The Senior Designer is responsible for varied design assignments requiring a broad knowledge of drafting and design for subsea projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, related data, and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts.
- Develop rough layouts and calculate angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages, and hole locations.
- Apply knowledge of weld symbols and their appropriate applications.
- Draft detailed multi-view drawings of structural components, machines, and subassemblies, including bearing fits, finishes, materials, coatings, and quality requirements.
- Modify machine or structural designs to correct operating deficiencies or reduce production problems.
- Develop concepts and evaluate manufacturability, cost, reliability, and other design factors.
- Develop procedures for equipment assembly and testing, along with manuals for installation, operation, and maintenance.
- Use computer-assisted design and drafting equipment and software to develop designs.
- Follow company HSE policies and procedures.
- Share knowledge and best practices across the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of related drafting and design experience.
- Complete working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
- Equivalent experience with another 3D modeling software package is acceptable, although SolidWorks experience is preferred.
- Ability to work flexibly and autonomously as well as under direction.
- Experience designing mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic oilfield products.
- Subsea experience preferred.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD for generating detailed drawings and schematics.
- Ability to produce complex technical design layouts and proposals.
