About the Role
Vader-Rey Recruiting is working with our client to find an experienced Commercial Civil Construction Superintendent to lead commercial civil construction projects throughout the Texas Gulf Coast.
The work includes underground utilities, earthwork, site development, and paving. This position requires an experienced field leader who can set the direction for multiple crews and subcontractors, maintain accountability, and keep projects moving safely and efficiently through changing site conditions.
This is a project-based position, and candidates must be willing to travel as project assignments change.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily field operations across multiple crews and subcontractors, setting clear priorities for supervisors and foremen.
- Plan work ahead to ensure crews have the people, equipment, materials, and site access needed to remain productive.
- Coordinate underground utilities, grading, earthwork, concrete, and asphalt paving activities with the project team.
- Establish production goals, monitor progress against project schedules, and adjust field plans when conditions change.
- Develop foremen and crew leaders through clear direction, regular feedback, and accountability.
- Address performance, quality, and safety concerns promptly and consistently.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and owners to resolve field issues and communicate project progress.
- Review plans and upcoming work to identify constructability issues, conflicts, and potential delays.
- Maintain a jobsite culture where crews take ownership of safe work and quality results.
Qualifications
- Approximately 5+ years of experience leading projects at the Superintendent level in commercial civil construction.
- Strong working knowledge of underground water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems.
- Proven ability to direct multiple crews and manage subcontractor performance.
- Experience with grading, earthwork, and concrete or asphalt paving.
- Strong field decision-making and practical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with crews, project managers, engineers, inspectors, owners, and other project stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel and work at different project sites as assignments require.
